We will take a look at some of our consensus plays and provide some opinion based insight to put together some ATS winners.
For starters we will look at the Gators/Aggies matchup. The line has fluctuated from 7 to 6.5 and currently at Caesars Palace the spread is Florida Gators -6.5 -115 and Texas A&M +6.5 -105, linemakers are playing with the juice, moving it around a bit and charging to get the dog, they must think they have the number nailed at a touchdown spread and MAC is looking to beat that number!
FloridaGatorsvsTexasA&MAggies The Florida Gators have come out of the gate hot, QB Kyle Trask throwing 10 TD passes through their opening two games of the season. They have busted open the ATS record, going 8-3-1 through their last 12 games a legit 2-0 and ranked No. 4 in the AP poll after Georgia took the lead ahead of them following the Bulldogs win over Auburn. The Aggies are 1-1 to start the season and they have a weak secondary that should get destroyed by the Gators offense. The MAC tends to stay away from Conference games because odds are usually tight & tough, it can be hard to find a solid pick, but our consensus groups have the Gators as a move and with the spread less than a TD this game has value Play - Gators -6.5 (+10 Units) QuickTrends-
Over is 4-0 in Gators last 4 games overall.
Over is 4-0 in Gators last 4 games as a favorite.
Over is 5-0 in Gators last 5 games on grass.
Gators are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss.
Over is 8-1 in Gators last 9 games as a road favorite
Under is 4-0 in Aggies last 4 games following a straight up loss.
Over is 4-0 in Aggies last 4 games as a home underdog.
Aggies are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
Aggies are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss of more than 20 points.
Under is 7-1 in Aggies last 8 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game.
PittsburghPanthersvsBostonCollegeEagles If you look at the recent trends for the Panthers, you see a team that is just 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games. That being said, the Panthers have been winning their games outright, they are 3-1 in the early going of the season, they just can’t get a cover, it’s pathetic, oddsmakers are cashing in on Pitt. The Eagles have been great ATS, covering in 8 of their last 10, but as far as this game, our information is telling us to stay away. Boston College defense has nothing to brag about, unable to stop 3rd conversions makes a case for betting the over, the offense can’t run the ball, averaging 2.4 yards a carry, and they are last in the ACC in both of these categories. Jurkovec has thrown 2 picks, one in the end zone and the Heels took it home for a meaningless win, one good thing is they don’t lose fumbles and are +5 in turnover margin. MAC has Panthers to win this one, the line is -6 and has moved back and forth from 6.5 and 6, but most importantly MAC sees action coming in on the total and is moving on the over, opening at 46 and currently set at 44 this should be an easy 55-60 point game. The trends seems to be the under but going against the grain is why The MAC is one of the most recognized sports gamblers in the industry. MAC’sFinalScorePrediction- Pitt 35 - BC 23 Play-Over 44 (+5 Units) Play-Pitt -6 (+5 Units) QuickTrends:
Eagles are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win.
Under is 4-0 in Eagles last 4 vs. a team with a winning record.
Under is 5-0 in Eagles last 5 games as an underdog
MiamiHurricanesvsClemsonTigers Given how dominant the Tigers have been in the ACC over the past few years, it is usually a bad idea to bet against them. The odds makers are giving them too much respect, our scouts are saying the line isn’t this high because of public money, it’s an inflated spread and could be a suckers bet. Let’s consider the fact that the Tigers have failed to cover this season and are now on a run of failing to cover in 4 straight games. MAC says play the ML hedge if laying the points, be smart and use bankroll management. The Hurricanes have not had a lot of joy against Clemson in recent years, but are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 versus conference foes. With 43.3 points scored this season they are ranked #7, this could be another over play, though with the total set at 62, we will have to wait to see some line movement before placing any action on it.MAC has no apprehension when it comes to taking a shot and going against the grain, it’s what makes him a Vegas specialty. Take Miami to cover, take them, take the points, and take it to the bank. MAC’sFinalScorePrediction- Miami 21 - Clemson 35 Play:Miami +15 (+15 Units) Play:Miami ML +450 (+4 UNITS) QuickTrends:

Hurricanes are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 conference games.
Hurricanes are 5-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
I went on a bit of a rant after skimming some senate bills. Feel free to use this to email your reps.
I look up bills in my state every once in a while for things I am interested in just to stay informed. After seeing poker lumped in as a "games of chance" like bingo and slot machines I wrote a bit of a rant to my representatives. Thought I would share what I wrote incase anyone here wanted to use it. I know it's COVID and there are bigger issues. But even more the reason to allow online play. You might want to remove my reference to the Washington States Senate bill, but I'm sure something similar exists for you. For the most part, these emails are actually read. So it's not a waste of time to change what I have a little email it to a few people. ------------- Find your reps: https://www.commoncause.org/find-your-representative/add ------------- Hello, my name is [Name] and I live in [State] District [your disctrict number]. I am writing to you to voice my support for online poker and explain why it should be legalized. I was prompted to write this email after skimming a few senate bills, one of which (S-1558.1) read this: "An affirmative vote of sixty percent of both houses of the legislature is required before offering any game allowing or requiring a player to become eligible for a prize or to otherwise play any portion of the game by interacting with any device or terminal involving digital, video, or other electronic representations of any game of chance, including scratch tickets, pull-tabs, bingo, poker or other cards, dice, roulette, keno, or slot machines. Approval of the legislature shall be required before entering any agreement with other state lotteries to conduct shared games;" The part of this bill that is particularly inaccurate is classifying poker as a "game of chance". A game of chance would imply a fixed probability of a person winning or losing. Rolling dice has a 1:5 chance of hitting the number you want, Slot Machines are a programmed payout %, and all other games listed here fit in that category. But Poker does not. But the defining characteristic I think you should pay attention to here is that in the world of gambling the house has this fixed edge using probabilities. So no matter what a person does the house will always have a 3-20% edge. For example, if you are playing roulette, no matter what you do you have a ~47% chance of winning. Meaning the house has a 6% edge. Yes, there are scenarios in poker where you can get lucky, but that is with any game or sport. The chance of it raining, the chance of twisting your ankle, the chance of sneezing. But aside from that, Poker it is far from a game of chance. This is most easily proven by the mere existence of professional poker players. People who are skilled at poker, win way more often than they lose on average. The house has no edge in poker, individuals have an edge, but only based on their skill level. Skills include, but are not limited to:
Knowing the value of your hand compared to the possible value of your opponents hands given the cards on the board.
Knowing the probability of improving of your hand (If I need a heart, there is a 25% chance of that coming. If I need a King after the flop I have ~16% chance of winning)
Knowing how to bet (and how much to bet), or call, or fold based on the value of your hand and the odds of it improving.
These are all skills that a person can possess to have an edge over other people. However, there is no edge for the house. This dynamic exists in many games, there is no difference in playing poker for money than there is in entering a singing contest for money. They both mostly involve the skill of the person vs their opponents, the only difference is that odds of getting a heart on the next card or getting a King after the flop are perfectly predictable opportunities of chance in poker, therefore more noticeable. But the luck involved in singing like humidity that day, technical issues, or getting sick are much hard to measure, therefore less noticeable. Finally, I want to compare poker to something that is legal, truly a game of chance, and damaging to low income populations–the lottery. Online poker can easily be regulated and will mostly be played by higher income earners. Yes, it is possible for people to be addicted, but people can be addicted to anything. Being online vs in person does not make a difference as to how an addict will behave. However, the lottery is more addictive and specifically targets low income areas. The fact that the lottery is legal and people can pay $10 - $100 a week on a game that they have a near 0 chance of "winning", but cannot play online poker with that same money and improve their chances overtime just does not make any logical sense. If someone is addicted to poker, they will play poker. The only difference is that you are forcing them into playing in person where the cheapest game is $300 to buy in. But the advantage of online poker is, those same people can get their fix buying in for $10. By making online poker illegal, you are hurting the very people you say you are protecting even worse. Poker was made famous in America with online poker, now we are the one of the only countries beside Iran and North Korea where it is illegal. If [State] truly is a progressing place, you will reconsider your stance in online poker and make it legal and regulated the same way New Jersey, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Delaware have. Thank you for taking the time to read my position.
Long time craps lover, just found this sub. If there is a standard trip report format I apologize. I was in Vegas 12/25 -12/28. Half of the family was at Caesar's and half were at Paris (vets get complimentary platinum which is cool). Since the whole gang was in town I limited almost all of my sessions to about 2 hours. Didn't see anything at Caesar's cheaper than $15. One table was reserved the entire trip (not sure how that works, I forgot to ask, I only ever saw a few people on the reserved table and it was otherwise empty). On Friday the tables at Caesar's were all $25 and $50. Some tables have ATS and some have Repeaters. Field pays triple on 12. The dealers at Caesars were really awesome (great stories from back in the day when darksiders used to get into fights with pass line folks). The players all seemed to know what was going on. Chinese guys betting black chips were my lucky charms. The Linq had $10 and $15 tables all weekend. Mix of new players buying in with a handful of chips and a few folks who had a lot of experience. Platinum player's cards at the Linq got more attention than at Caesars. Dealers there are younger and a lot of fun. You can see TVs playing sports from the tables. Field pays double on 12. All tables were ATS vs repeaters. I never bought in for more than $300 at a time (not ideal on $15 tables, I know). Bankroll was $1k. I love craps, but usually stick to pass line/odds and 6/8. I love betting my change for the dealers. I'll play/piggyback hard 6/8 if I'm up - not optimal, but it's fun and that's what I'm there for. Sessions 1 & 2 @ Ceasar's $15 table: change $200, color up $400 both sessions. The family had cirque tickets so I had to bounce. Session 3 @ Linq: change $300, color up $500. I was stick right and got on a great roll. Same basic bets more or less. Session 4 @ Linq (last day): change $300, color up $800. This one was wild. Bought 4/10 a lot (I like that bet for some reason). Placed 6/8 for $30 for the clean payouts (I really need to study the payouts more as my understanding is pretty bad given that I've played a handful of times over the last few years). Hit a hard 6 for $315 lol. Hit the All Small with $5 on it and the dealers along for a buck. Put a random dollar $5 on a dealer yo and it hit. It was a blast. Wish the table had repeaters, saw a guy throw six 3s. I threw three 12s in a row. Another dude threw so many 9s I thought I was in a simulation. Put $75 across ATS which was my cut off point win or lose (didn't win, colored up, gave whatever red and white chips I had to the boys). Not the most amazing story ever, just basic stuff. No other game in the casino feels like craps (except Casino War lol). Poker and blackjack are too much work. Roulette feels like one big prop bet. Slots are a joke. What an amazing game. I wish I could shoot real dice in California.

Mystic Mac returns to the welterweight division for the first time since August 2016. He went 1-1 during his first stint in the weight class, both against Nate Diaz. Conor hasn’t won a fight since he became a rare 2 division UFC title holder, cracking Eddie Alvarez like a iron clad champion, and looking like the Irish Hulk Hogan until Mayweather outclassed him with a Mexican Style TKO in 10. True believers knew that a 4 leaf clover from Saint Patrick himself wouldn't of gave The Mystic Mac a chance in a boxing match against the greatest, but Vegas cleaned up as everyone took that underdog sucker bet and 4.3 million domestic pay-per-views exceeding $600 million in revenue. Past History McGregor got his beaten from Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title and to teach him a lesson, clobbering McGregors head and submitting the man like a pure bred MMA champion – all though Conor seems to only lose by submission. It’s expected that McGregor will get a rematch with Khabib later this year if Khabib wins his title defense in April at UFC 249 against No. 1 lightweight contender Tony Ferguson. That fight has been booked four times before, and each time it’s fallen through for various reasons mostly due to the fact that Ferguson is a animal and animals get wounded.
"UFC president Dana White has gone on record saying that if McGregor defeats Cerrone, he will be on standby to replace either Nurmagomedov or Ferguson at UFC 249. And to be honest with you, Conor believes that Khabib versus Tony is not going to happen.”
What about the Cowboy? The 36-year-old Cerrone has 23 wins in the UFC since his inception in 2011 Cowboy split at 2-2 last year, losing his final 2 - Ferguson with a 2nd round TKO and then Justin Gaethje with a 1st round stop. A big right hand hurt Cerrone midway through the round, Gaethje finished the job for the win. Cowboy Cerrone is a record breaking savage, he holds many titles and accolades for fighting in the UFC, but he has many more out of the ring accomplishments that matter to his legacy as well. Donald Cowboy Cerrone is a rare breed of human that is not only extremely dangerous with his kicks and combinations, but he'll also steal your girl and take her horseback riding, and he wins UFC bonuses at will. Chances are this will not go the distance. Mac, age 31, has fought to a decision just 2 times and has 18 knockouts including the best UFC meme KO that was a 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo at UFC 194 until Masvidal sent Askren to the stone age. Cerrone beats opponents and that's a fact, but he can also make you tap and his kicks will make you wanna let him tap you. The integrity of Dana White and the UFC Organization is interesting to say the least, the company needs a Mystic Mac win more than a close to retirement Donald Cerrone victory. The Cowboy needs the win to set up the next pay day, the fans want a upset and the bookies want your money. 6 Clips Cullan's Expert UFC 246 Prediction -CONOR MCGREGOR WINS IN ROUND 2 +330 UFC 246 Card: Holly Holm vs. Raquel Pennington Aleksei Oleinik vs. Maurice Greene Cláudia Gadelha vs. Alexa Grasso Anthony Pettis vs. Carlos Diego Ferreira Roxanne Modafferi vs. Maycee Barber **Andre Fili vs. SODIQ YUSUFF BY KO, TKO, DQ OR SUBMISSION +175 Tim Elliott vs. Askar Askarov Drew Dober vs. Nasrat Haqparast Aleksa Camur vs. Justin Ledet Brian Kelleher vs. Ode Osbourne Sabina Mazo vs. JJ Aldrich We suggest playing @ MyBookie.ag, use promo code "6Clips" for a 50% signup bonus up to $300! Brief about me & this write up Hey everyone, HSnewb here. Typically end rank ~ 2 in standard and wild each season but decided to focus mostly on wild this season and hit #170 legend with odd rogue, while hanging out in R4-5 meme'ing in standard. I have actually been wanting to do a write up to try to help beginner and intermediate players (and maybe discuss with players more skilled than I) for a while, but wanted to wait and do it on a month I hit legend. The point of this guide is to give you guys 10 tips to help with your climb. This is more about the R10 or R5 to legend climb as the play is more competitive. It will apply to both standard and wild and I will try to use some examples from both formats. Each tip will be brief and below it will be more detail which you can read at your liking. I really hope you guys enjoy this guide and find it useful! ~~~10 Tips to Improve Your Legend Climb~~~ Find preferably one (or two if you must) decks that are good for climbing and learn them well One mistake people make is switching decks when they hit a losing streak. While this is fair to do, if you really want to climb, you need to learn your deck (or 2 if you get too bored playing just 1) like the back of your hand. This means learning how it plays against different opponents as well as the synergies, strengths and weaknesses of the deck itself. It is really important to learn your deck well. When you start a season off with a new deck, don't even worry about your rank. Set a goal of "I am going to learn this deck." More on learning your deck well below! So what makes a deck good for climbing? Here are my basic criteria: - It is tier 1 or tier 2. The difference between a tier 1 vs tier 2 deck is often 1-2% points in win rate over THOUSANDS of games. So you are actually BETTER OFF playing a tier 2 deck that you like than a tier 1 deck you find boring or difficult to pilot well. I recommend vicious syndicate for standard tier lists and them, teamrankstar or tempostorm for wild tier lists. Unless you pay for the subscription on HSReplay, I do not recommend using them as their stats are severely skewed by the R10-20 meta. - You enjoy it and are able to pilot it well. Let me emphasize that you enjoy it. I once tried to do a legend climb with odd pally. The deck has its moments but did not feel enjoyable to me playing game after game. I hit rank 2 and got so sick of playing this deck I just decided to meme. So play a deck you actually like. You will play it better and face less "ladder fatigue." I believe you can do better with a deck you enjoy that is tier 2-3 compared to a deck you don't enjoy that is tier 1. - The deck's games are on the shorter end. Just based on how many games you have to play, to grind from R5 to legend can take a long time if you are closer to a 51% win rate. So all things being equal, a deck that averages 7 minute games will get you there twice as fast as deck that averages 14 minute games. That said, you are better off playing a control deck you like that does well than an aggro deck you dislike that does poorly. But if you can help it, go for a fast deck (this is why the R5-L meta is typically aggro decks and less so decks that hard counter aggro decks). Learn your opponents decks Just like you have to learn your deck, you also need to learn the netdecks you face. This starts by looking them up. When you face a deck you don't personally play or know very well, hop on-line and pull up the deck list on your phone (since you are playing on your other device; if you play on your phone this is ofc hard to do). Keep the list beside you as you play. Look at their mana - they are coming up on turn 5, what 4-5 mana card do they run that they might play? Of course your opponent may not run the exact deck list you find online, but you should typically find the same "25 card (or so) core" in most net decks. Sometimes you cannot tell what a deck is right away (all standard shamans right now besides control or big shaman often run the same 4 murloc package no matter what) but what you can do if you are unsure is get on HSReplay and search decks by cards. Add the cards as you see them played then find the most popular deck (and narrow it down until you find a specific net deck archetype, ideally). Play around, and don't play around, your opponents' cards When many people start they just like to play in a style that executes their decks' plan. You have an aggro deck so you dump minions til you run out of mana and go face, right? Well as you get better you need to learn to play around your opponents' cards. You may have enough mana to play 2 minions as aggro shaman but know your opponent will likely have mass hysteria next turn, so you may be better off toteming, hoping to hit a 0 mana totem to soak up some damage, and playing 1 minion. Or, if you are not shaman, maybe you just play 1 minion anyway, so after they clear your board (if they do), you have another one to play. It is counter intuitive to not use all your mana at first but this is a vital skill that very much seperates beginner and intermediate players. The same goes for control players. Let's say you are control warrior and have a brawl and the opponents board is fairly scary. But maybe that is your only answer and you really need to live long enough to draw Dr Boom so you can actually win. So ask yourself - do I brawl here to spare the opponent attacking with his minions twice? Or can I absorb 8 damage to the face and hope they play 2 more minions and I get more value from my brawl? If you find you often lose because you get "too greedy waiting for the perfect time to get max value from brawl," try several games playing it what you consider "too early." On the other hand if you find that you tend to run out of answers late in the game even though you clear the board often enough early, start holding back more with your clears, and learn to become more comfortable with a lower life total. The next step is knowing when NOT to play around cards. On one hand, if you are only going to win vs this token druid by rushing them down because you have no way to deal with wide boards, then just play hoping they do not draw savage roar. If you can tell they have a good hand and you are not able to clear their board, and you are almost out of resources but maybe have their life down to 15, you may be more likely to win just going "all in" on face damage. If they draw savage roar you lose. If you play around it and they don't draw it, you still lose. Trying to play around savage roar may keep you alive another 2-3 turns only for you to forfeit any actual chance of winning. So if you are going to lose no matter what if they draw it, play as if they don't have it and if they don't, you can actually win. The other thing is playing around cards too much even when you are doing okay in the game. In general you want to play around cards more when you are in the lead, and play around cards less when you're losing. But sometimes you play around cards so much, you actually are not able to execute your win condition well. It takes practice to find the right balance, and sometimes your opponent gets the best cards every time, but in general think about "am I playing around TOO much?" as well as asking if you are not doing it enough. Identify your role in the match up The aggro player in the match up is trying to kill the opponent before the late game, when the opponent out values him. They may value trade to keep a board but their priority is going face. The control player is just trying to survive to make it that far when they can get control of the board and out value their opponent. They may lose value on trades just to stay alive, and don't really care about their opponents' life because they know if they stabilize into the late game, they will eventually have enough value to kill them. Often your role is obvious - murloc shaman vs control priest. But others times it truly is not. Odd rogue plays as the control vs aggro most of the time (unless they are losing the board for sure and their only hope is to rush face), but many players mistakenly play this like a face deck in all matchups (a huge mistake). In some instances, the control player facing a midrange or another control deck may continue playing as control when they actually are going to be outvalued. They need to start playing as aggro. I am not going to go into more detail here but if you haven't read the article featured on both "icy veins" and "hearthstone-decks.net" called "the making of a legend" (and also featured on this sub under best reads), it goes into excellent detail on this topic! I will refer you guys there because it is such a great read (or refresher) on this topic in more detail. Check your psychological state when it comes to grinding This is really not mentioned enough. We can all grind the ladder down to a nub but few of us check our mental game before hitting the play button. And that is how tilting and loss streaks often happen. We do often talk about "do you find yourself losing 3 games and getting mad and making bad plays?" in which case we know (well, some of us...) to take a break. But what if you are exhausted from work, hungry and also juggling friends/family while playing? Maybe skip ladder that day and play solo or casual mode to get your fix. Just like in school, you can study forever and still make a C. Or you can study enough, eat well, sleep well and try to have a positive attitude and make an A. If you are playing a good deck you know well but losing, ask yourself, is today good for me to play or should I do something else to relax / unwind and come back to HS another day? The biggest mistake players make is losing sleep to get more HS, hoping to grind more. If you actually make sleep the priority, you actually will play better, and even though you play less, you will wind up a better rank! Also, you have to believe in yourself to make legend (or, at least it helps). For a while I ended each season rank 2, got frustrated as I never hit rank 1 for a while, and decided "I am a rank 2 player." In reality, if you can hit rank 3, if you have enough play time and don't give up, you CAN hit legend. It helps for you to ackowledge this to prevent tilt and help combat ladder fatigue. Learn from more experienced players The best way is to watch twitch videos of players who use a deck you also use. You can also find pre-recorded ones if you are busy, and also you can use this sub to ask for players that are good to watch. I also really like watching tournaments on youtube as you see both players perspective. It helps you know what cards to play around as well as how your opponent may be trying to play around your cards. When you watch others play, do so 'actively' not 'passively.' What I mean is pause or think fast about what you would play, see what the better player does, and ask yourself if your play was better or worse. Sometimes it actually is better and even pros make stupid mistakes sometimes. But engaging in this process is FAR more helpful than just watching a game like TV. If you want some "extra credit," there are some good books out there about sports psychology in general. "The Art of Learning" is excellent and I have read excerpts of "Thinking in Bets" (about professional poker) which is also good. This sub has a sticky thread of good reads and I recommend when you have time going through and finding some to check out. Learn to mulligan better Just improving your mulligan game can make a huge impact. Some decks are easy to mulligan and some are harder. Think about what role you play (aggro vs control) in the anticipated match up and think "what is my win condition and what kind of early game do I need to achieve that?" Can you afford to keep that super good card even though you can't play it til later because it's a) so good (like hooktusk) or b) you have good enough cards to go with it even if you maybe don't always keep that kind of card (like fungal with sn1p sn4p in odd rogue)? People ask on this sub "how do I play deck xyz better?" and get good advice but not enough people ask "when I am playing mech hunter and face a mage what should I be mulliganing for?" which will give others the chance to give you really good and specific advice. Get realistic - this is in large part a numbers game There is a really cool website where you put in your rank and expected win rate and it tells you how many games you can expect to play to hit legend. https://www.primedope.com/number-of-games-to-reach-legend-in-hearthstone/ Sometimes you just don't have enough time in a month to push for legend unless you hit a win streak. So if you see that unfolding, why stress yourself out grinding when you can instead focus on learning a deck or just play for fun? Or maybe spend that time playing decks you won't ultimately grind with to learn them (so you can later play against them better). Skill is great but luck is a large part of HS when it comes to ladder no matter what anyone tells you. Not only is there the luck of getting the right cards and your opponent not drawing better than you, but also the luck of getting favorable or winnable match ups often enough to actually climb. Don't be hard on yourself or think you are not a good enough player when in reality you just got 5 unfavorable match ups in a row. Plan out your play time and be realistic when you set a goal. For the grind to rank 5, it has a lot to do with hitting win streaks. A great deck can linger getting to rank 5 with a lot of bad matchups, and a tier 4 deck can hit several favorable match ups in a row and hit rank 5 off a big win streak despite being actually a crappy or only meme worthy deck. Past rank 5 there are no win streaks of course. Learn from your mistakes If you can re watch your own games that is ideal. I don't use any kind of tracker but a pro player who did an AMA told me to take screenshots when I didn't know the play, and after the game ended, check the screen shot and think through the play. Pro chess players will record their every move and analyze them after a game, move by move. I'm not that extreme and have to admit I only used the screenshot thing a couple of times, but after my games I do like to sit and think, whether I won or lost, what I would've done differently. Think through your singular plays (micro play) and your over all game play (macro play). Did I play as aggro when I should've played control? Did I trade when I should've gone face? Was I not greedy enough with a value card? Sometimes you make the right play and lose anyway. But other times you can say "you know, if I had held back on playing minions, knowing the mage probably had a clear, I could've won," or "if I had fought for board instead of going face, I could've got to the late game and drawn hooktusk for the win, instead I got too excited going face and my opponent value traded me and won." At the end of the day, it's just a game I had a season I "made up my mind" I was going to hit legend. I got rank 2 very early in the season, then spent almost the rest of the season between R1 and R2. Towards the end of the month I was not even having fun so just took a break from the game. Then this season I was not even trying for legend per se but wanted to focus on just playing odd rogue in wild, and I was able to do it even when I wasn't expecting it. This is not because I somehow played way better this season than that past one. In reality it has a lot more to do with me hitting good match ups than playing better. Sure I did improve some and changed my deck by 2 cards, but in reality, I never should've let myself get so frustrated over my "failure" to hit legend that other season. At the end of the day, it's a game. No one but you cares if you hit legend. Your friends and family won't like you better. Your life won't be better (in fact your social life and health will suffer if you play too much and/or put too much value on hitting legend, especially if you lose sleep over it). And you may just enjoy the game a lot better without any specific rank goal. When the game is no longer fun, take a break (or switch modes) and when you come back, forget about rank. Set a goal a season or two later to hit legend, because it's truly not worth becoming frustrated over HS. If there is one piece of advice you take to heart it's that the legend "achievement" is really pretty meaningless at the end of the day. A crappy player who gets lucky and grinds 24/7 can hit legend and a great player with bad luck and/or limited rank time may not. It's just a game and at the end my hope is that you have fun with it more than anything else. Hope you all enjoyed!

There has never been a scarier time to be a full-time pro wrestler in the United States, as the futures of WCW and ECW are both up in the air. The possibility of WWF purchasing WCW became a lot more likely this week after reports that Eric Bischoff and his Mandalay Sports group had pulled themselves out of the running. If WWF buys WCW, the belief is that they will run it as a separate company for awhile and ultimately do an inter-promotional feud at some point down the road. But there's a lot of roadblocks in the way of a WWF/WCW deal, much of it to do with contracts. A lot of WCW wrestlers are on contracts that are re-evaluated every 90 days, which means they could be terminated and Vince, who would have all the negotiating leverage, could re-negotiate deals for a lot less money. With ECW being unable to afford anyone, Dave suspects there's going to be a lot of high-paid WCW wrestlers who might be about to undergo a major change in their lifestyles if this deal happens. Then there's the top stars who have major guaranteed deals without the 90-day clauses like Kevin Nash or Sting who are making more in WCW than everyone in WWF. Vince isn't going to want to bring them in under those terms and upset the pay scale within WWF. Same with Goldberg, who has a huge guaranteed deal with 3 years left on it. Dave speculates that TBS might help buy those contracts out in order to quickly facilitate the sale but that's just a guess. Anyway, Bischoff and his group had months of negotiations with WCW but they seemingly fell apart this week for reasons unknown. WWF CEO Stuart Snyder and some WWF lawyers had meetings with TBS officials this week and those close to the negotiations tell Dave they figure it's a near-certainty that McMahon will buy the company. So far there haven't been any meetings or discussions between McMahon and Ted Turner themselves and it's not expected that there will be.
In the midst of all this contract discussion, Dave casually mentions that WCW released Scott Hall a couple of weeks ago, claiming breach of contract due to his unprofessional behavior from the overseas tour back in February. And he never mentions it again in this issue. Soooo...right on. Seems like a big deal to gloss over after months of "will-he/won't-he be brought back?" but whatever I guess.
There's a lot of unrest in the WWF locker room about all these WCW rumors. Everyone realizes that competition is good for the wrestlers and if Vince buys WCW, that kills all the negotiating leverage for everybody when contracts come due. There's a very limited number of top spots within a single company, and if Vince owns everything, that creates a lot more competition for those top spots. The key to this is that TBS and TNT want to retain the prime time programming no matter who buys WCW and McMahon seems like the obvious choice if they want someone who can rebuild WCW and deliver ratings. So while this might end up sucking for the wrestlers, selling the show to Vince might be the best business move for Turner. At least in the short term. In the long-term, Dave thinks Vince owning everything is nothing short of disastrous for the industry. It also kills any chance of anyone ever starting a union (which never had much of a chance anyway).
If this deal happens, it will give McMahon a near-monopoly on the wrestling industry in North America, which is something he has been striving for since he took over the company from his father nearly 2 decades ago. It almost happened in 1988, when Jim Crockett Promotions was on the verge of bankruptcy, but even then, there were a couple of fledgling territories still hanging on (much like ECW is now). This time, Turner is trying to drop WCW because the AOL/Time Warner merger is looming and they need to get WCW off the books because it's a huge money-loser. Dave thinks if Vince buys WCW, it will solidify his position as the most powerful man in the industry and that will probably go unchallenged for many years. With WWF's market share and and leverage, it will be virtually impossible for any new company to start over from scratch and actually become any kind of competition to WWF. In fact, he compares it to how difficult it would be for a start-up football league to try to compete against the NFL. You'd have to be crazy!
Then you have to consider the futures of some people in particular. Certainly, Bret Hart and Lex Luger's careers would be in grave jeopardy. Bret is under WCW contract through Nov. 2002 although his career is already questionable anyway if he ends up having to retire due to his head injuries, which is heavily rumored. As for Luger, he left the WWF with no notice in 1995 and almost certainly won't be welcomed back and, at 42 years old, his options are limited. Same for Vince Russo, who isn't likely to be welcomed back into the WWF fold. What about Hogan or Bischoff? They might end up being under contract to Vince McMahon if he buys WCW, since they still technically have contracts. WWF is likely not going to incorporate much of WCW's office staff, so all the advertising, licensing, marketing, and merchandising people would probably be looking for new jobs. Do they keep Nitro on Mondays or move it to a new night so it doesn't cut into Raw ratings anymore? And on and on. Long story short, if WWF buys WCW, there's a million questions that will need to be figured out.
Despite WWF's offer to waive their exclusivity deal through the end of the year, ECW and TNN couldn't reach an agreement. As a result, ECW has now been cancelled on TNN. Heyman held a meeting at a house show with the talent and told them the news. He said the PPV schedule will continue as planned. It's believed some house shows that don't have strong advance ticket sales may be cancelled. Heyman explained his difficulties in getting the company a new TV deal, saying there are offers on the table that he could take, but that just getting on TV is the least of their problems. They need someone willing to pump money into the company, not just put it on TV and he said that signing a bad TV deal would doom the company. Needless to say, the ECW roster is worried and many of them have privately reached out to WWF and WCW. But right now, WCW is in a hiring freeze and WWF has told people that they won't negotiate with anyone without Heyman's approval. So there's really nowhere for the ECW wrestlers to go. Obviously, the odds of Heyman pulling this off and keeping the company alive look bleak, but he's been in this position before and managed to save ECW from what appeared to be certain death at the last minute. As for why the ECW and TNN negotiations fell apart, there were lots of things. For starters, there's obviously bad blood on both sides. TNN feels entitled to a percentage of ECW's PPV revenue, while ECW obviously disputes that. ECW has also bitterly complained that TNN never promoted them well. ECW also wanted more commercial time during the 1-hour show to sell ads to make more revenue, but TNN wouldn't go for that. Lots of things added up to all this basically. So finally, talks broke off and TNN officially canceled ECW without warning.
To make matters worse, the day after TNN pulled the plug on ECW, the Parents Television Council decided to get involved, issuing a press release regarding ECW's ongoing negotiations with USA Network and declaring that ECW is even worse than WWF when it comes to inappropriate content. That really sucks because USA president Barry Diller is known to be concerned about the political climate surrounding television content and the PTC turning their attention towards USA is likely to give them serious reservations about making a deal with ECW, especially after all the headaches they have caused WWF for the last year.
Dave has finally seen the NJPW/AJPW Tokyo Dome show with Toshiaki Kawada defeating Kensuke Sasaki in the main event. Even though he lost, Dave thinks it's the first time Sasaki has truly come across as the star NJPW wants him to be. Sasaki has headlined the Tokyo Dome before and was the IWGP champion, but he was never over the way guys like Muto, Hashimoto, or Chono are. He also doesn't have a reputation as a great worker and has never really been accepted as the top star. But in this, the biggest match of both of their careers, Sasaki delivered and then some. Both men practically killed themselves with a brutally stiff match that got over huge. In-ring wise, it wasn't the best match of the year but for drama and emotion and storytelling, it was up there with Foley/Triple H and Atlantis/Villano III. Dave gives it 4.25 stars which honestly feels low considering how heavily he praised it. Probably would have been 5 if it happened in the Toky.....oh. Never mind.
Raw this week did its lowest regular time slot rating since 1998. Nitro didn't pick up the difference though, with Nitro also doing its lowest rating since the early days of the show back in 1995 with a 2.33 rating. The total number of homes watching wrestling this past Monday was 7.6 million which is the lowest non-holiday total in years. Dave doesn't know what to blame. The Monday Night Football game rating was below its usual number too, so it probably wasn't that. Raw is obviously suffering the effects of recently moving to a lower-rated network but still. The Olympics are over so you can't blame that either. A Mets/Cardinals playoff game did a bad rating too. So who knows. Basically, everything was down on Monday, not just wrestling. Well, everything but Everybody Loves Raymond which did monster numbers. But Dave does give some details on demographics, in case you're curious. The average Raw viewer is a 26-year-old male, while the average Nitro viewer is a 35-year-old male. Another fun fact, when Raw began, a staggering 44% of Nitro viewers changed channel and flipped over to Raw. One other interesting stat, network and cable ratings are figured differently because of the availability. So even though Smackdown's ratings numbers are lower than Raw, it turns out Smackdown actually gets more viewers. So in case you were wondering, Smackdown is WWF's most watched show, not Raw.
Mitsuharu Misawa has started to show how Pro Wrestling NOAH is different from other companies, and this week, the promotion started doing classic American-style booking, with run-ins, blading, and DQ finishes. AJPW pretty much banned blading back in 1990 (although Abdullah The Butcher was still allowed to do it occasionally since that's his entire gimmick) so it was a big deal to see it come back in NOAH. One of Misawa's big complaints in AJPW that led to friction with he and Motoko Baba was because Misawa wanted to modernize the promotion, while Mrs. Baba wanted to keep things the same old traditional way they had always been.
NOAH is still trying to get their Nippon TV situation worked out. NTV dropped AJPW and planned to start airing NOAH when the split first happened, but then AJPW started making a bunch of legal threats and everything got put on hold while that gets sorted out. So for right now, neither promotion has a network TV deal.
Akira Maeda talked about Alexander Karelin's upset loss at the Olympics and actually tried to take credit for it in a recent interview. Remember, Maeda and Karelin had a "shoot" (*ahem*) fight in RINGS back in 1999 and Maeda said that the damage to Karelin's legs from Maeda's kicks in that fight may have contributed to his loss in the Olympics this year. Hey, might as well try to get yourself over, I guess.
Speaking of Karelin, the guy who beat him, Rulon Gardner has said he likely won't do professional wrestling after all. He says he's been getting offers every day, including a $1 million contract offer and $250,000 to work 1 PPV, but turned them down because he feels he can still do more for amateur wrestling and wants to stick to that. Dave talks about how pro wrestling is frowned upon by most people in the amateur wrestling world and how even Kurt Angle's history is almost ignored by many amateur wrestling publications because of his decision to go to WWF.
In Abruzzo, Italy, the place where Bruno Sammartino was born, they are renaming an arena there as the Bruno Sammartino Coliseum. They are also declaring the house he was born in to be a historical landmark, meaning it can't be torn down.
A documentary called Wrestling At The Chase, about the history of St. Louis wrestling, won a Mid-American Emmy Award for best special program or something. Dave says if you're a fan of old-time wrestling, you should go out of your way to see this. I posted it in one of the issues last year, but here it is again.
Randy Savage filed a lawsuit against a Seattle porn producer because he's marketing a tape of Savage's ex-girlfriend Stephanie Bellers and advertising it under her WCW name of Gorgeous George. Turns out Savage bought the rights to the Gorgeous George name years ago, originally to give to his brother Lanny, but ended up using it for his girlfriend instead. Savage feels like using the name to promote porn damages the value of the trademark he owns (it sounds like this is different from the masturbation video she later did around this same time, but who knows). Speaking of Bellars, after a short-lived stint in ECW, she is back to working as a stripper, which she used to do before meeting Savage and going to WCW.
All Pro Wrestling in San Francisco debuted a wrestler named Dalip Singh who is said to be around 7 feet tall and 400 pounds, with a body like Lex Luger (that would be Great Khali. And yeah, early in his career, he was shredded).
Ted Dibiase's son is the starting quarterback for his Clinton, MS high school football team. The team is undefeated and ranked #1 in the state (that would be Dibiase Jr., prior to becoming a wrestler himself after leaving college his freshmen year).
Now that Juventud Guerrera has been fired by WCW (more on that in a bit), the natural expectation is that he would go to ECW. But Paul Heyman says he loves Guerrera's talent but right now, they aren't in a position to bring in new stars. If they get a new TV deal and influx of cash, then maybe, but with most of the current roster behind on pay, Heyman feels it would be a slap in their face to sign anyone new.
RVD had the weekend off because he was filming a movie in Thailand (some shit called Black Mask 2). RVD is also expected to miss shows this coming weekend (he'll be missing a lot more than that, but we'll get to that soon). Speaking of missing shows, ECW had a couple of shows in Virginia and couldn't afford to fly everybody in. So they asked the crew to drive in, but told them it was optional and wouldn't be held against them if they didn't go. Big Sal and Balls Mahoney are the only ones who didn't go.
WCW officially fired Juventud Guerrera after the incident in Australia last week. Dave agrees with the decision. As talented as Guerrera is, you can't have guys doing PCP, stripping naked, and fighting the police. There's a lot of people in the company who feel like there's a double standard because there's lots of wild shit that goes on on the road that top stars are never punished for, but Dave says while that may be true, you still can't defend Guerrera here. ECW can't afford to hire him and Dave doubts WWF is going to bring him in considering why he was fired from WCW, so his American prospects look pretty dim right now. He can work in Mexico and probably be a big star but there's no money in it there, not compared to what he was making in WCW (and he had just signed a new contract). He could probably get some tours of Japan, but again, not even in the same ballpark money-wise. Dave thinks his best bet is to sit out for 6 months, behave himself and maybe WCW will take him back if he stays out of trouble. But if WWF ends up buying the company, that probably won't work either. No matter how you slice it, Guerrera really screwed himself out of a lot of money.
Notes from WCW Nitro: it was the show in Melbourne, Australia and was fine, but it felt like watching a lame duck promotion. Johnny The Bull somehow broke his foot on a monkey flip spot right at the beginning of his match. They immediately went to the finish. He'll be out for about 6 weeks. Scott Steiner did commentary at one point but Dave has no idea what he said because 60% of it was bleeped out. He also spent half the time making a lot of mean-spirited comments about Torrie Wilson that were ridiculously unprofessional and says that's the difference between the 2 companies and that Scott's behavior would never be tolerated in WWF.
WCW is doing an angle with stars from the TV show Battledome. It started with WCW wrestlers like DDP, Buff Bagwell, Rick Steiner and Ernest Miller showing up to the Battledome set and doing some stuff. Battledome stars are expected to appear on Nitro soon to continue the angle (this is only important because it gives us Terry Crews in WCW).
At a talent meeting at Nitro, the wrestlers were instructed on things they could no longer say on TV. Specifically, Konnan had a lot of his act taken away. No more references to tossing salads, Richard Gere and gerbils, etc. Basically, they don't want anymore homophobic comments on the show.
There were settlement talks in the Owen Hart lawsuit this week in Kansas City with Vince and Linda McMahon and their lawyers meeting face-to-face with Martha, Stu, and Helen Hart and their lawyers. Both sides made settlement offers but they were far apart. They tried to negotiate, but Martha's anger was evident and she ended up going off on Vince and the whole thing broke down from there. It appears that this case is probably going to end up going to trial.
Undertaker had gall bladder surgery and will be out for several weeks. They hope he'll be back by Survivor Series though he'll likely be on TV before then.
Notes from WWF Raw: Eddie Guerrero got injured in the opening match on....yup, a monkey flip, much like Johnny The Bull on Nitro. Jericho was trying to keep the match going and Eddie rolled out of the ring to buy himself some time and then back in to get away from Jericho when he came after him, clearly not ready to keep going. He seemed to have somehow injured his leg on the ropes and the referee stopped the match when he saw Eddie limping badly. After what happened with Paul Orndorff a few weeks ago, Dave is glad to see them not take chances with injuries (Eddie ended up missing, like, 2 weeks but he was fine). Also on the show, the 2 guys playing the Los Conquistadores were actually Christopher Daniels and Aaron Aguilera.
Vince McMahon attended a Hollywood luncheon event and made some news when he talked about Hollywood needing to fight back against people like Al Gore and Joseph Lieberman in regards to their complaints about Hollywood marketing adult entertainment to children. Vince also talked about the rumors of buying WCW, saying it was a possibility, which is the first time he has publicly acknowledged the issue. He also said WWF will be producing a TV series called Manhunt.
A follow up on the story from last week about Rock's father Rocky Johnson and things look a lot worse this week. Johnson was the subject of an investigation by the town's parks & recreation director at the youth camp where Johnson worked. This whole thing is complicated though because apparently Johnson is tight with the town's mayor and the town administrator kept taking information out of the report or some such shit. It's all confusing mess. Anyway, Johnson was suspended from his job and the investigation was turned over to police. But then, some of the people involved in the investigation ended up getting fired I guess? I dunno, Dave's explanation of all this is convoluted as hell. Anyway, one female camp employee claims Johnson groped her ass on 2 occasions, as well as asking her to take her shirt off. He also had another woman who didn't work there hang out with him in a back room, apparently having sex while on the job and was once interrupted by another employee while he was getting oral sex from the woman. A 16-year-old girl saw him shirtless and getting a massage from the same woman. And he's accused of asking a 12-year-old girl to play strip poker. He wore a t-shirt that said "Puta" on it (Spanish for "bitch") in front of children and apparently made a comment about the size of his dick in front of some kids. He also left several children unsupervised in a training room while they wrestled and boxed, and some kids got hurt. Johnson of course denies it and those close to him say he didn't do anything to or around any kids. As far as the women, Johnson was described by a friend as "one of the good ol' boys" who grew up in a different time and thinks it's still okay for him to talk to women in a certain way. This whole story is a mess. There's some other shit about town officials covering up some money deals, the mayor's involvement, etc.
Various WWF notes: Stephanie McMahon is now heavily involved in writing the TV shows. Brock Lesnar made his TV debut in OVW in a tag team match with Shelton Benjamin against Sean Casey & Chris Michaels. Nora Greenwald (Mona from WCW) debuted in a dark match at the Raw tapings.

Rumnchess's Guide to Live Poker. A.K.A Alex Livingston Main Event FT 2019
This is taken from his guide on the forum. Highly recommend for anyone who's new to live/casino poker. He and the other 2 players at this year Main Event Final Table are the ambassador that we need to make poker fun again.
I'm crossposting this from the HUNL forum, but I wrote a brief summary of live poker; some of you may find it interesting and/or (in)accurate. Rumnchess's Guide to Live Poker TABLE OF CONTENTS PART VIII - IntroductionPART XI - Attitude & EtiquettePART XIII - General StrategyPART XV - Bankroll Guidelines (an extremely short section)PART XVII - Player Profiles (quite long by contrast)PART XXIII - Conclusion PART VIII: Introduction Live poker is my bread and butter. It has been one of my favorite pasttimes for the last five years of my life, and will always remain so. Along with golf, fine dining, and women, live poker constitutes one of the four core pillars of my life. Over the past few months, I have experienced a period of extraordinarily erratic, and for the most part tumultuous, results in online poker. The advent of heads up superturbos has been particularly disruptive to my confidence, state of mind, and bankroll. Nonetheless, my live results have remained consistently good. I consider live poker my best form of poker, not only relative to the respective fields, but in absolute level of skill. Perhaps just as important as my results, I love everything that live poker has to offer: easily attainable food and beverages, chip shuffling tricks, and an incredibly social and lively atmosphere. Through live poker I have attained an internship with a day trading firm in New York, and free business class flights for the next year. The opportunities for conversation and networking are plentiful, and the live poker world encompasses a fascinating crossection of society. Rarely do such a diverse group of individuals come together. Everyone from min-buying truck drivers to lawyers to wealthy Middle East businessmen can be found at the poker table. To my knowledge, the plethora of people you meet in a cardroom have only one thing in common: they are all notoriously poor players. PART XI: Attitude & Etiquette It is extremely important to approach a casino poker game with the correct attitude. Often I see online players who are new to live cardrooms walk into a game with an attitude that is not only harmful to themselves, but to the overall quality of the game. Berating poor card players is not only disrespectful, but is extremely harmful to your bottom line. It is imperative to treat your opponents with respect, and in particular, you should often make an effort to befriend the poor players. Of course if a guy at the table is acting like a complete *******, I will make no effort to be friendly towards him, but at the same time, I will typically avoid being rude towards him, unless absolutely necessary. It is important, however, to make a distinction between your conduct as a person and your conduct as a competitor. Conduct as a person: Your conduct as a person is the way you act in conversation, your demeanor towards others, and also the way you respect the ettiqute of the game. If I see somebody slow roll another player or try to angleshoot, in my eyes this speaks towards their character as a person, and not their character as a card player or a competitor. There are some exceptions: sometimes a guy who is clearly a novice will take a long time to roll his hand on the river, or make a string bet. Here he is just inexperienced and unfamiliar with the code of the game. It should be fairly obvious to you who is simply new to the sport, and who is deliberately trying to take advantage of their opponents by use of non-poker tactics. Conduct as a competitor: While I am extremely friendly to my opponents in conversation, etc., I am a ruthless beast as a poker player. If I think a guy wants to avoid playing big pots, I will relentlessly three-bet him in position. Sometimes I will reraise him on each of his first three opens while we are both at the table. This often frustrates and even angers your opponents, but its completely within the ettiquette of the game, and says nothing about your character as a person. Ideally, I want my opponents to like me as a person, but fear me, or dislike me as a card player. Etiquette:
If the dealer asks you to go to the cage to buy your chips, comply. Every card room has a different process (and in most you can buy chips right at the table), and the last thing you want to do is get off to a bad start with the dealer. Bad karma.2. If a dealer makes a ruling that you disagree with in a hand that you are involved in, do not be silent. Ask to speak to a supervisor, and explain your case clearly and concisely. Be as polite as possible, but be firm.3. Always make your big chips visible. Nothing irks me more than when I think a guy has a $500 stack and he is hiding a tower of black chips behind his red chips.4. String betting is not allowed in any casino I’ve been to. Either announce the amount of your bet or raise, or make sure you bet in one clear motion.5. Tip the dealers when you win a pot of any decent size. My rule of thumb would be that a tip is not necessary for a pot of $40 or less, but for anything beyond that $1 will suffice. I typically tip $2 when I win a pot of $400 or more, and $5 when I win a really huge pot.6. Tip the cocktail waitress $1 when you get a drink.
PART XIII: General Strategy Before I get into specific player types, I’ll list of general adjustments to make when transitioning from internet poker to the live arena.
Raise bigger preflop. You can get away with raising to 5x or 6x (sometimes even more, depending on the table), because people will call you with the same or greater frequency that they would call a 3x raise online.2. 3bet less frequently. Your edge on the table should be so big that you want to play large pots with deep stack to pot ratios. You also typically want to keep the bigger fish in the pot. Obviously if you are playing at a table of loose fish who will call very wide, it is okay to three bet a reasonably wide value range, but generally, I try to avoid 3betting trash, except against the nitty guys who want to avoid playing big pots.3. Overbet more often. Live players are notoriously unaware of the size of the pot, and of the correct sizings of bets in relation to the size of the pot. A player will typically think more about the actual dollar amount you’re betting than the amount relative to the pot. You will often see opponents make absurd bets like $50 into a $500 pot. As a good player, born and bred on the internet, you should be able to control the size of the pot and determine the correct betting amount in a given situation. Do not be afraid to bet $600 into $400 if you have a big hand, believe your opponent to be reasonably strong, and perceive him as the type who doesn’t care too much about money.4. Play suited junk. As heads up players, most of you should feel in your element here. I advocate playing hands like K4s and Q7s in a live game, particularly if the pots are multi-way. Stacks tend to be deeper in a live game, so your implied odds are greater. Most pots in a live game will be multiway, with poor players who allow you to dictate the size of the pot post flop. Flushes and straights are like jackpots in a live game.
Part XV: Bankroll Guidelines: I tend to not worry too much about my bankroll because I consider my winrate to be extremely high in these games, and am just a general degenerate. But in general, you need far fewer buy ins to be properly rolled for a live game than you would online. I like to buy into a live game for 200 bbs, and I think that having a roll of 10 such buy ins would be plenty. Keep in mind you are only one tabling, and seeing far fewer hands. Not only that but your winrate per hand should be at least triple what it would be online. $10,000 should be plenty to play 2/5 live. PART XVII: Player Profiles It would be extremely time consuming to identify and describe each of the many different player types you will encounter at the poker tables. Therefore, I have chosen five different player profiles that I believe will provide a solid framework for the type of creatures we are dealing with. In parentheses, I’ll indicate that player’s corresponding play style. The Businessman’s Son (LAG) Description: Usually Lebanese or Middle Eastern (though they can be Greek, or from other parts of the world), the businessman’s son is a party animal with a seemingly limitless budget. Typically single, under the age of thirty, and comes with an air of sheer and utter lack of responsibility. Plumage: Designer shirts, designer jeans, expensive jewelry, crocodile shoes. Poker Style / How to Adjust: The BMS is not afraid to put money in the pot. He comes to play, and he doesn’t like folding. Not only that, but he is almost always accompanied by a couple of cronies, and is sure to try to impress them by showing bluffs, scooping large pots, and being the center of action and attention. As such, the BMS is extremely loose both preflop and post flop, and will often employ tactics such as large unnecessary overbets, merely designed to display his true indifference to money. 3bet a reasonably wide value range vs. this player, but never 3bet as a bluff. Don’t worry if your image is rock tight, you will still get action when you 3bet AA vs. this player. BMS’s have a fold to 3bet of about 1.8%, a decision they usually only make when they are receiving an important phone call on their blackberry. If you have a strong hand, and perceive the BMS to be weak, it can often be correct to trap this player. Even a BMS will sometimes throw away their total air to a flop check/raise, but they will rarely slow down if you check/call. While you will get action from the BMS regardless, it can be helpful to build up a slightly looser image, perhaps even attacking them early, as they will develop a need to personally show you up in the future. It is considered advantageous to show a BMS a bluff for this reason. Old Man Coffee (TP) Description: If you never play poker between the hours of 7AM and 8PM, don’t bother looking for old man coffee; he’s at his home, likely sleeping. Usually between the ages of 55 and 90, old man coffee shows up to his local poker game on a strict routine. Some OMC’s are daily grinders, others only show up on Tuesday. But every OMC has a strict poker schedule that he follows and incorporates into his weekly routine. The OMC arrives looking fresh and ready for action. He quietly sits into his favorite seat, pulls out a newspaper, and orders a coffee, black. He rarely displays much emotion, and avoids conversation, unless it is about a violation of the rules, in which case he leaps into action and displays his authority on the matter. Every dealer and supervisor in the casino is on a first name basis with the OMC. Plumage: Weathered flannel shirts, warn out khakis, bland sweaters, goofy straw hats (more successful OMCs, such as Dan Harrington, have even been spotted with baseball caps) Poker Style / How to Adjust: The OMC is completely positionally unaware and completely unaware of his opponents. He knows that KJ is a limping hand, so he limps it under the gun, and he limps it on the button. OMC’s generally play tight, and when they do raise (even on the button), you can be sure it’s one of seven possible hands (AA,KK,QQ,JJ,TT,AK,AQ). While Some OMC’s protest raising AQ and TT, most have come to understand that these are acceptable raises in today’s poker environment. Postflop, an OMC will rarely slowplay a big hand, and will often even lead into a multiway field when he flops a set. If an OMC comes out firing big, back off. If he comes out firing small, this is often representative of a middling made hand like middle pair or top pair, weak kicker. It’s often a good time to try to get the OMC off his hand. OMC’s pride themselves on being able to fold hands - they consider it a skill they have honed through decades of poker experience. For this reason, you should almost always try to make an OMC fold his hand by the river if you have reason to believe he is not very strong. OMCs are weak prey that a professional poker player can eat up for consistent small gains. While you will rarely win large pots form an OMC, you can win many small ones. OMCs are easy to manipulate by simply altering your bet sizing. Often you will arrive at the river in a $180 pot vs. an OMC. You know from experience, that he has top pair, weak kicker here. You also know that he will begrudgingly call a $100 bet, and you know that he will fold to a $150 bet. It’s very simple: bet $100 when you have a hand that wants to be called, and bet $150 when you are bluffing. It sounds too good to be true, but with the OMC, that is the beauty of his game. His decisions are mechanical and predictable. Even if he were perceptive enough to alter his decisions based on his opponent type, he is too stubborn. Raised by a strict father in a household where rules were rules, the OMC was never given enough freedom to actively develop an imagination or any sort of creative thought of his own. The Middle Aged Guy With Everything To Prove (A mix) Description: Often from New Jersey, the MAGWEP owns a small business, and he can’t wait to tell everyone around him about its success. In reality, MAGWEPs almost always earn between 35 and 100k per year. The MAGWEP is happily married, as you can see by obnoxiously large wedding band displayed around his ring finger. The MAGWEP loves to talk strategy; rather, the MAGWEP loves to tell you how you misplayed a hand. When he gets sucked out on, the MAGWEP always lets out some sort of verbal declaration, and then often bangs the table and gives the dealer some sort of dirty look. MAGWEPs cannot stand young internet poker players; they are subconsciously aware of their own inferiority in skill to these players, and are threatened by the seemingly reckless attitudes of their competitors. When a young internet player sits down at a poker table, a look of concern appears very briefly on the face of a MAGWEP, but not long enough for anybody to notice. This look will disappear quickly, and the MAGWEP will refer to the internet player as “kid” for the rest of the session, announcing his dominance. MAGWEPs always appear to be more interested in sports than they really are (they are interested, but not obsessed, as they try to convey), and often try to converse with the other players about the table about the future of their football team. Generally, but not always, it could be said that MAGWEP’s have some form of need to assert their masculinity, which can often be attributed to physical deficiencies in certain areas. Plumage: Working man’s jeans, sweatshirts (often emblazoned with the logo of their son’s university), baseball caps. Poker Style / How to Adjust: MAGWEP’s can range from being reasonably tight to quite loose, but they are almost always aggressive. They understand the basic theory that raising is better than limping in, and have incorporated it into their game. They are even somewhat positionally aware, and would do things like raise 76s on the button, something an OMC would never dream of doing. MAGWEPs tend to get waaaaaaaay too attached to premium starting hands, and are often even guilty of overplaying AK on whiffed flops. Flop a set when a MAGWEP has aces, and the money is all yours, no matter what. MAGWEPs give away several very obvious tells. The most noticeable one is when a MAGWEP is involved in a hand, and he has check/called a bet on the flop, and then the turn falls. The MAGWEP will look his opponent right in the eyes, and then he will check the table so viciously that it might even startle some of the other players. When the MAGWEP does this, you can be damn sure that he has a marginal to strong, but not super strong, made hand. Occasionally he will have a semi-strong draw in this spot too. The MAGWEP is essentially trying to intimidate his opponent into keeping the pot small by checking behind. He feels that his eye contact and intense slamming of the felt will do so. Sometimes it can be difficult to decide whether or not to continue with a bluff in spots like these. On the one hand, the MAGWEP doesn’t want to fold, but on the other hand, he knows that you know that he is pretending to be committed to showing his hand down, so he may feel that you won’t bluff him here (the MAGWEP does have some poker smarts). My advice would be go with recent history: if you have a crazy animal image, now would be a good spot to cut your losses, but if you’ve been reasonably tight thus far, try to take it away from him. The Internet Kid (LAG/TAG) Description: While you will find “internet kids” of all descriptions playing live poker from time to time, the most common one I see is the 1-2 NL grinder. The kind of guy that plays 6-8 tables 15-20 hours a week online, and, when he sits in a live game, thinks he is God’s gift to poker. Often wearing a backwards hat and a smug grin. Typically enters the casino with two or three of his buddies, one of whom is almost certainly a novice poker player. While generally congenial and easy going, the internet kid can get extremely defensive when his poker skills are brought into question. Plumage: Jeans, polo shirts, Birkenstocks, hooded sweatshirts, watches in the $100-500 price range, sometimes sunglasses. Poker Style / How to Adjust: The IK tends to be tight aggressive, while some more brazen varieties are loose aggressive. He is positionally aware and willing to mix up his game and play creatively. While the IK will make quite a bit of money from the fish in the game, an experienced and aware opponent can profit quite nicely from the IK by putting him in spots that he is uncomfortable. If you are seated to the left of an IK, both flat and 3bet him relentlessly, and establish your presence as table captain. You want to be the one playing multiway pots against fish, and when he opens the pot, he cuts into your win rate. Figure out what kind of IK he is: some will buy in for 50 or 80 big blinds and play a scared money style, others are overly bold and bluff happy. Focus much of your people reading skills on figuring out exactly how the IK plays (it will be incredibly obvious to obtain this information on the other players at the table). Also try to figure out how the IK perceives you: unlike the other player types, the IK will actually be capable of adjusting his play based on your play and your dynamic with him. Do everything you can to take the IK out of his comfort zone: show him bluffs, own him with overbets for value, etc. etc. Keep in mind that some more inexperienced IKs can actually be good opponents to have at the table: they will play a straightforward style, and their ranges will be very obvious. Study the IK at great length, and even go out of your way to make eye contact when you get involved in pots with him - this will often make him uneasy and you will be able to pick up physical tells. Remember, the IK is used to hiding behind a computer screen, and is not necessarily socially adjusted or in solid control of his emotions and body language. The Friendly Whale (LP) Description: We save the best for last. The Friendly Whale is an icon in any live poker game - there’s almost certainly sure to be at least one at every table. Some of my best friends in the poker world are friendly whales, and most are between the ages of forty and fifty-five. Not only do FWs consistently give me large sums of money, they also tend to be accomplished, interesting, and conversational people. And the best part about them is that they don’t care when they lose, so there are no hard feelings, or awkward moments when your hour long conversation is interrupted only to have you win $1,000 off them. Friendly whales come in many shapes and sizes, but tend to be middle aged businessmen with successful business ventures or other forms of employment. Despite being the poorest card player I have profiled, the FW is arguably the most life successful type, and is the envy of MAGWEPs worldwide. Plumage: Business casual: dress shoes, khakis and casual/dress shirts. More conservative FWs may sport a blazer or slacks. Poker Style / How to Adjust: FWs are the loose passive fish that poker players dream of. Recreational players who enjoy the thrill of the game, FWs rarely miss a flop with any two cards that have even the remotest of similarities to each other. The beauty of the FW is that he is eager and willing to call large bets, but will rarely bet or raise himself without an extremely powerful hand. It is therefore extremely easy to bet/fold extremely strong hands on the river against an FW, as he may well call you with fourth pair but would be unlikely to raise you without the nuts. Value bet, value bet, value bet. Often you can get three streets of value out of 2nd pair, top kicker vs. an FW. If you have a huge hand, consider overbetting for value, and also consider incorporating some overbet bluffs into your arsenal (even an FW can fold a hand to significant pressure, but try to feel the situation out and use this move sparingly). If an FW is in the pot, you should not be looking for an excuse to play a hand, but rather looking for an excuse not to. Mix in some overlimps with your weakest hands, and make small to medium raises with your suited connector type stuff, and bigger raises with your pure value hands. Nobody at the table will notice when you make it 6x with AA and 4x with Jts - remember, you are trying to accomplish two different things with these two hands, and so it would make sense to adjust your raise sizes accordingly. When you make a very strong nut type hand, and believe the FW to be reasonably strong, hammer the pot with large bets and raises. Do not be scared of frightening the FW off, if he likes his hand, he will stay in almost no matter the price. FWs favorite thing to say after making a bad call, usually accompanied by a chuckle and a smile, is “well at least I can sleep at night”. FWs are wonderful people, great for the game, and fantastic for your bottom line. PART XXIII: Conclusion Live poker is the nuts. You get to sit at a table with interesting people from around the world, and hear their life stories. You hear married men ***** about their wives, and listen to Norweigan businessmen who have played 100,000 euro pots. You experience a general sense of comraderie that cannot be replicated in the online arena. I advise you this: do not judge a person’s character by the way he plays cards. Even the biggest whales in the world can be fascinating, interesting and successful people. Take time to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the full experience of playing live: winning money will take care of itself.
Personal review from a gacha semi-noob (Warning: Spoilers and FGO comparisons)
I've been playing this game for a few months now (since towards the end of February), making this the second gacha game that has managed to hold my attention for more than a couple of days. I think I've reached a point where I'm comfortable writing down my thoughts on E7, and so I'll be writing this as a sort of informal, subjective review. FGO having been my first gacha game, and the one I have the most experience with, a lot of this is going to involve directly comparing the two, hence the title. If you hate that game you're perfectly free to, but if you're only going to be replying to this to say "FGO is trash" and/or some variation thereof...well let's face it, if that's all you have to say me telling you to save your energy ain't gonna stop you, so just consider yourselves preemptively fed and ignored past this point. Moving on then, this is gonna be a long one. Edit: I'll be adding little edits to each section as people point out stuff I missed. The Story Let's start with the least clear cut of my thoughts. I enjoyed the story; the characters were likable, Ras, Arky, and Meru have decent chemistry, the plot flows well enough without pointlessly piddling about, leaving that to the optional sidequests. Unfortunately, it's also, for the most part, rather uninteresting and unimaginative. The setting consists of a bunch of tropes that have been done a thousand times (classic kingdom, merchant desert town, elf forest, etc) without any unique twists to them. World building is practically non-existent. The sidequests, which could've been used to keep expand on the setting without interrupting Ras' journey, are instead wasted on a bunch of pointless little character plots that tell us almost nothing. A lot of them feel like a bunch of teasers for future content, which is all well and good except I don't think those are quite as important as telling us more about the world we're actually in. And the main story itself is pretty basic. Ras' fairly unique origin is hardly brought up, aside from constantly pointing out how he's not really human, which really just kinda justifies him having all the personality of a baked potato and about half the flavor. He's one doomed hometown away from changing his title from 'Heir of the Covenant' to 'The Chosen One', and really, would anything about the story change? The other unique aspect to the story is the world getting reset every time he fails and Diche’s power weakening as it goes on. All this ends up being used for is to explain why a couple of characters turned traitor and artificially raise the stakes. Other than that, it’s just a straightforward ‘chosen one saves the world with his pet and waifu while collecting allies along the way’. We get pretty much no exploration of most of the characters we meet either. The heirs, plus Mercedes, are the only ones that get their little character arcs, and they were exactly stellar. All in all, as I said, I did enjoy it. It was fun and entertaining and had it’s epic moments, and I did at least grow attached to Meru, which let me sympathize with Ras’ later quest to restore her. But it’s not really something I’ll be thinking about for a long time after I finished it, and I think that’s a shame. Another problem is that a lot of the characters are just complete unknowns. Many of them are only known from the little sidequests, and those can be pretty hit-or-miss in terms of introducing anyone. I mean, could anyone tell me who Ken is? That’s not a rhetorical question, I still have no idea who this guy is. I pulled him when rolling for Charles and barely use him, cause I have no real interest in using someone if I know nothing about their character. All that said, comparing it to this point in its lifetime, the writing of FGO’s early chapters ranged from just decent to absolute dumptser fire, and the only reason I stuck with it was the promise of significant improvements in the future. Not that another game having the same flaw is much of a justification, but gacha games have ongoing stories, so we can always hope for better. I feel like perhaps E7’s biggest failing was on focusing on too grand a scale for its release story. Something a bit more personal, with less, more developed characters, would’ve served it better. And I know the writers can do that, as they’ve managed it in a couple of the side stories. As a personal point, I also wish there was some sort of in story reason as to why the characters are joining us, and some more personal interactions with them. Stuff like FGO’s bond lines and interludes, or GBF’s Fate Episodes. Right now, once you pull a unit it feels like there’s no real reward for using them a lot. It would also help alleviate the ‘I have no idea who this person is’ problem I mentioned before. TL;DRDecently enjoyable, could be a lot better. Needs to do a better job of characterization. Early enough that there’s plenty of hope for improvement. The Sidestories/Events One hell of a mixed bag here. I started playing during the ‘So the Roses May Bloom’ event and it left a fantastic first impression. I felt like this game took a lot less time to learn something FGO took ages to; not ever story node needs some random battle. It was interesting, well written, and above all exactly what I feel a story in a gacha event should be; something that makes me love and want the characters regardless of how good or bad they are gameplay wise. To date I still want Bellona really badly thanks to that event. After that we had Charles’ side story, which I also really liked. It too expanded on the political goings-on of Ezara, while doing a great job at properly expanding on Charles and making me want to roll him. Sure, it was significantly smaller, but I figured it was just on account of being a relatively minor event meant to introduce one character. Unfortunately, that’s where the good impressions stopped. Cermia, Krau, and Haste’s (Haste’s was a little better than the former too, but not much) side stories where just little adventures that only gave us some surface level characterization about those characters. And they all followed the same general progression. Nevermind having story nodes without battles, apparently the standard is having plenty of random combat nodes without any story or purpose whatsoever. They’re not even meant for farming, because the farming node is always the final one anyways. I had hope the GG collab, being a relatively major event, would have more effort put into it. But ultimately it was just an excuse plot to have a few GG characters dropped into Orbis to save the day and maybe set up some future plot with Kayron. On a more hopeful note, the lousy side stories don’t change the fact that the good ones exist. As I mentioned, it’s still relatively (and hopefully) early in the game’s lifespan. The character side stories feel like they’re longer versions of the trial quests FGO uses when it introduces a new character without a proper event or story chapter, but the Roses event felt miles beyond any of the early events, and still above most of the later ones until the recent CCC collab. Maybe in the future the great ones can outnumber the lousy ones, and can have some more interesting mechanics than just reaching and farming the hell out of the final node. TL;DRThere’s been one amazing one, some great ones, and some shit ones. Same gimmick on all of them is boring. Jury’s out on whether they’ll keep getting better or worse. Gameplay This is the shining star of this game. The units have unique and varied kits, and building different teams is really fun. I’m of the opinion that people often underestimate the strategic depth you can get in some of the harder fights in FGO, but at the end of the day it’s still mostly a matter of pairing a DPS with the best supports you can and adjusting for whatever gimmicks the fight involves. On the other hand, taking into account the potential builds, speed and CR manipulation, a variety of buffs and debuffs, it all makes combat super fun. That aside, the idea of hunting specific boss monsters is great in theory, and I’d kill for FGO to have a series of always-available, increasingly difficult challenge battles like the abyss. The labyrinths could be better, they’re ultimately just a series of corridors where you fight the same enemies over and over again until the bosses. But I do like the concept, and the morale system makes it so you have an added layer to consider when building your team. Personally, I think they should at least take advantage of how simplistic the labyrinth designs are to introduce new ones in fairly short periods. With different combinations of enemies and bosses to make you really have to constantly consider your teams each time. Unfortunately, talking about using a variety of teams does bring me to the downside. The problematic issue comes when you start getting a good variety of units. How many of you have nat 5s that you haven’t touched due to lacking gear? It seems to be pretty common advice for new players to focus on just a core team for most of the early and mid game, until you can auto Wyvern 10/11 and possible Golem hunts so as to more easily get gear for new units. I was fully prepared to follow that advice...until I rolled Lidica and realized I didn’t want to not use her or give up on Silk. And then I rolled Charles but didn’t want to stop using Ceci. You see where this is going? And so I ended up spreading my gear too thinly, and while I might have progressed faster if I had just focused, I can’t help the feeling that I would’ve gotten frustrated and bored if I did. The best part about this game is, in my opinion, all the potential team combinations you can make. Which you can’t really play around with for most of the game. Even in endgame, you end up potentially sacrificing many ‘just decent’ pieces of gear because your stat rolls might all end up on the one flat stat it had. Or worse, you have to get rid of it because you maxed it and most of your rolls did, in fact, turn out shit. The endgame grind, getting the absolute best gear for arena or the higher abyss levels or whatever, isn’t that big of a problem. But I think there needs to be more mid-game content, and more ways to quickly get new characters to a decently usable state. Thinking back to the event we just had in FGO, I was lucky to summon the featured servant pretty early on. She’s by no means maxed, I certainly won’t be using her in any challenge quests any time soon. But I was able to get her into a useful state pretty much as soon as I got her and really enjoyed using her during the event. And it made me really look forward to when I do max her out, even if it’ll probably take months to get all the materials. On the other hand, I got lucky with Baiken, went all the way to 121 for Dizzy, and got all copies of Sol, and they’ll all be collecting dust for ages while most of the event was spent just setting my strongest team on auto-battle. Expanding on my idea of introducing new labyrinths, I think that could be a way to fix the problem. Introduce a new, limited time labyrinth every one or two weeks, with a reward of at least one decent piece of gear with guaranteed stats. That way people can feel like they’ve made some genuine, if small, bit of progress every week no matter how badly RNGesus shits on them that week. And the surplus of gear would encourage people to try out more units, and by extension make rolling the gacha more attractive. TL;DRFantastic gameplay with some great ideas, held back by how hard it is to try out a variety of characters. The Gacha Ok so, aside from the aforementioned problem of new units collecting dust for a while, this one is going to be a lot more personal. I like gambling, I’m not ashamed of that. I was the kid on the playground who’d bet pocket change and toys on UNO games, who learned several varieties of poker before high school, and the only time I’ve ever enjoyed watching a sport besides baseball is when I’ve got some money on one of the teams. Naturally, whaling in a gacha game isn’t exactly a big jump for me. Except that rolling in E7 isn’t any fun. You know the likely results too soon. If the game let’s you skip the whole animation, it’s a nat 3 unit or artifact. If the book turns gold, it’s a nat 4. When one of the twins appears (and so far as I can tell, they always appear, even when the book doesn’t start out as gold), it’s a nat 5. And you can always tell if it’s a unit or artifact depending on the twin. And with limited units, you know exactly what the unit is going to be, too. I know a lot of people like the fact that limiteds are guaranteed, I did say this one would be a lot more personal, but I don’t see the point when we already have a decent pity system in place for them. Would a little more uncertainty really be that bad? Make the twins only rarely show up, don’t immediately reveal which unit you roll when you do, make me wait and suck my breath in when I see a gold book. Let me skip all the animations if I keep tapping so that I have a reason not to do so. I know this isn’t as important to all, or even most of you. But I know there must be at least a couple of people that would enjoy a little more excitement with each roll of the dice. P.S. Edit: Don't you hate it when you carefully write out a long reddit post on a separate document, and end up forgetting something anyways? There's a slight issue with the imprints as well. While it's all well and good that the game doesn't make you feel too underpowered for not rolling dupes, it also makes rolling dupes more painful. Having just 1 or 2 dupes of a unit is practically useless, which makes pulling dupes extra painful. In FGO, a single dupe can give you a pretty major bump in power for that unit's noble phantasm (basically their ultimate skill), so even when you a servant you already had, you generally think 'well, at least X will be stronger now.' TL;DRThis game’s gacha doesn’t scratch my gambling itch Monetization Here’s the part I find the most disturbing about this game. Gacha monetization is all well and good. It’s, at its heart, gambling. And while some people can’t handle that, I believe I’ve made it clear that I enjoy it. But this game seem to try and muddy the waters around the value of what you’re spending vs what you’re getting. There’s no direct way to buy only regular bookmarks. The regular price, that is to say the price available no matter how much you spend, is $100 for the skystone equivalent of 40 summons. That makes the monthly summon packs seem more valuable, even though you only get 4 more summons. Then there’s moonlight summons, which take 120 regular summons to get. Going by the rates, this is more than you’d need on average per nat 5 covenant unit, and there’s plenty of trash you can roll there to make it definitely not worth it. But it does make it seem more generous when a pack includes a few galaxy bookmarks, it artificially raises the value of a pack. Going further, there’s the Mystic summons. Conveniently, these require ten times the bookmarks of each of the previous summons, for a featured unit with lower odds than your standard rate up. Oh, but doesn’t a pack with 700 bookmarks seem like so much? And for a much higher chance to roll a specific ML unit than you’d get with the regular ML summon. Nevermind that, at 50 bookmarks per summon, if you buy all the packs that $570 for only 72 pulls. For $500 you could get 220 regular summons, are mystic summons really that much more valuable? Sure, the packs include skystones, but that’s just there to make them seem fairer. They know damn well nobody is buying mystic packs for the skystones. FGO gets you 55 summons for $80, with no ridiculous separate seperate category of servants that you need a special currency for and no bullshit limited packs to look nice compared to the even more ridiculous regular prices. And that’s not getting into leif packs, and mola packs, and the awful gear packs and blatant mystic power creep. Every part of this game’s cash shop is designed to devalue your money by making horrible options seem less horrible by comparison. Other gachas use standard casino practices; colorful lights, excitement, etc; to make the gacha more pleasing and encourage you to spend money that way. This game is basically going full scam artist. Edit: This game does give a fair amount more premium resources than FGO, which I did forget to mention. Back when I started playing, I even considered this to more than even out the terrible pack prices and make the game more generous than FGO. However, my opinion slowly changed as I saw the problems inherent in the whole ML and Mystic summon system. All in all, it definitely gives you more free rolls if you're F2P, but the manipulative nature of the shop is still a major problem for those of us who would be willing to spend more money. TL:DRThe game’s a giant psychological trap that makes you devalue your own cash. Looking just at the game, I have a lot of hope for the future. But looking at the business practices, I can’t help but dread it, and a little side of me hopes it fails for them.

0-0.5 = fur seperempat goal, minimal bayern munchen mesti menang satu goal bila mau menang full, namun bila skore akhir imbang maka Teman - teman hanya kalah setengah. 0.5-1 = fur tiga seperempat, disini bayern munchen mesti menang 2 goal bila Teman - teman mau menang full, tapi bila bayern hanya menang 1 goal sampeyan pun akan tetap menang, Namun jumlah pembayaran gak full. Tapi bila skore akhir berimbang maka taruhan sampeyan akan kalah penuh.
Over dan Under
Cara membaca pasaran over under Mengacu pada gambar 1.
Maka, bila dijumlahkan hasilnya yaitu 1 + 7 = 8 (genap / even ). Profesional Tips: Jangan pernah menganggap remeh team uder dog.

I am not trying to make another thread regarding whether or not this patch is valuable or not valuable in its whole or in its parts. There's plenty of discussion about that. These comments are not directed at the patch in general, as I am sure the bits I'm discussing will be tweaked in short order (though maybe not short enough for some tastes). I want to respond to the massive amounts of comments on the periphery of one side of this discussion with a simple point: random is not equivalent to exciting. Creating a game in which favor can swing hands suddenly, at any stage of the game, without the requirement for high risk (or even necessarily high skill) does not create a better spectator experience. Risk creates excitement, and predictable (implicity OR explicitly) risk creates interesting strategy. I am not against comeback mechanics, although I'm sure I will be characterized as such. I am against comeback mechanics in which the degree of comeback is not balanced against the degree of execution required to attain it. The problem is, reward needs to be balanced against risk & difficulty. Players deeply in threat of losing a game have less to risk, because they have less to lose. This means that the payoffs to risk balance is dangerously low. Imagine if Poker players with only 10% of their original chips could bet more than they were worth without cost. Imagine if Chess players with half their original pieces could make two moves. These mechanics might be interesting ideas, but the core of the games they would be part of cannot support them as they are. The entire conceptual system would need to be overhauled to make the risk VS reward and the skill requirement VS payoff ratios fit. Creating a mechanic which encourages teams who are far behind to throw their team forward on the off-chance of overwhelming any single hero removes from the complex tapestry of mechanics and tactics which make up Dota 2 strategy. Strategy is based on cause and effect. The ultimate strategy games in history (Go, Chess, Arimaa) are games in which there is no influence of chance on outcomes. Every turn is made in full by a player. Dota 2 is a strong spectator sport not just because it is action-packed, but also because it is deep. There are difficult to decipher but statistically important patterns of behavior in games which are intertwined with the special effects, twitch-style skill, and mechanical prowess of pro players. And even if you play in "trash tier", you are theoretically capable of enjoying the game because you understand it and like to learn more (regardless of your personal execution on that understanding). Maybe this patch is better for making a compelling pub game. Maybe it's not. But diminishing the influence of foresight on victories removes how interesting it is to watch. Or at least how interesting it is to understand. When I see these huge gold swings happening in pro games because of mechanics which rewards individual moments of success with disproportionately bountiful advantage, I am not excited or interested. I am lost. I feel like I am watching a random number generator with special effects. A summer blockbuster with lots of gunfire might be fun, but it will never be as good of a movie to watch repeatedly as a film where action is tied into narrative with strong dialogue and visually interesting moments of inaction to give the action texture and context. Lots of video games have a deep focus on twitch skill (as Sundance Digiovanni likes to refer to it as), but few have the deep tactical wells and learning curve that Dota 2 has (but is now reducing). That's what makes it unique, and that was a major contributor to its rise as one of the biggest non-traditional Sporting spectator games in the history of the world. I think these mechanics mistake the source of the excitement of Dota 2 in the suspense of knowing who will win. So they made it so any team can win any game at about any time, until the bitter end. But if that were why we watch Dota 2, then nobody would watch VODs. The score is out, then the game is ruined. That's obviously not the case. And I know that this patch definitely has nuances and its own complex tapestry of tactical patterns and stratagems to learn and create. I'm not saying that it doesn't. But whatever those are, they will always be more than ever before at the will of fates outside of any individual player or team's control. As of this moment, they seem to introduce too much entropy into the system. And, sure, some people think chaos is very interesting. It sure is shiny. And it sure does move a lot. I don't think that is what the spectator community wants this game to be. Purge said this:
"I feel so confused in dota right now. I generally have no idea what item progressions to expect on opponents now because of kill streaks."
[I realize that he misspoke because he said kill streaks and not AOE kill bounties, but the greater point stands] tl;dr Things happening due to chance or disproportionately high rewards for relatively low risks is not exciting or interesting in the same way that high skill caps and deep strategy is, and it never will be. Suspense does not make up for a reduction in these core attributes of the game. Postscript: I want to specify that I am not wholly against random mechanics. I am against mechanics which do not fit into the greater mechanical tapestry of the game, and I am against mechanics which give teams an unreasonable advantage because of their position in the game. In games like Magic or Hearthstone, the randomness goes both ways. In these mechanics, teams from behind can play the numbers hoping for a kill while giving up many at little cost, while teams from ahead have every incentive to not play the odds at all. Because of the heavy cost of engaging and unforeseeability of individual skirmishes, the random has become too heavily lopsided. Some impacts of random, such as random Rosh timer, were fantastic introductions to the game.

Let's discuss some of these 2012 WSOP main event bets
The bets and odds can be found here Last Longer Bets:
Heinz vs duhamel vs Cada vs Eastgate vs Yang
lederer vs fegurson vs hamilton
Negreanu vs duke
Isidor vs Dwan
brunson vs Chan
OveUnder 5.5 number of americans on the final table
how long will final woman last +- 40
2012 bracelt winner make the final table
My thoughts, tell me what you think:
Heinz vs duhamel vs Cada vs Eastgate vs Yang: First of all i think heinz is a lot better player than the past wsop winners, Cada and Yang are just horrible. Eastgate and Duhamel are decent, but cant see them having a decent run in the main event again. Although I haven't been really following the coverage this year. Can anybody comment on any of these player cashing in any other events so far or even playing? i heard Yang was broke.
lederer vs fegurson vs hamilton: as far as I know these 3 players would be out of their mind to show their faces in vegas, let alone play in the event. This bet seems like dead money, and likely to not qualify.
Negreanu vs duke: i feel that negreanu has been on top of his game lately, and have been running fairly deep in tournaments. I like negranue in this bet to beat out Duke.
Isidor vs Dwan: this is a toss up, i think. i cant really pick between the 2. although i feel islador is a better tournament player. I would lean to him if i had to make a pick.
brunson vs Chan: I like chan in this bet. not sure why. find doyle always makes a pretty early departure
OveUnder 5.5 number of americans on the final table: i really like the under in this bet, those crazy europeans are getting younger and better, in addition to some canadians. for this bet to lose, there needs to be 6/9 players at the final table that are american.
how long will final woman last +- 40: i would pick 41st or worse, just because the field is so large, and would say 90-95% of the field is men. For a woman to make top 40, seems like an accomplishment.
2012 bracelt winner make the final table: i would pick htis bet for an upset. I think sometimes its your year, and can make the final table after winning a bracelet earlier. The confidence u build from a previous event helps.

Fantasy Football has taken over my life: First year playing FF. In the beginning, it just seemed like a fun alternative to sports betting while still allowing me to enjoy the game of football and bond with friends. As the season went on and injuries started piling up I found myself scouring the waiver wire at odd times but brushed it off as nothing more than an activity to counteract boredom. 15 weeks later... I'm on /fantasyfootball constantly at work. I'm constantly behind on my work and i've become so obsessed with winning and knowing every detail that i'm checking weather at outdoor stadiums (tonight's Den vs SD game). This is so fucked up man. I used to be a huge poker junkie and played live poker 3-4 times a week, but at least with that I can disengage whenever i'm not actually at the table. When not in the vicinity of a computer i'm on my phone checking for updates on FF. I went to a rave last week, checked FF at least once an hour. I was just sick with a stomach flu, instead of sleeping I checked FF for hours. I AM NEVER PLAYING FANTASY FOOTBALL AGAIN after this season. /endrant
Hey everyone. So although I am new to sports betting (baseball) I played a lot of poker and am familiar with calculating value vs odds. This is my strategy: Use fangraphs win probabilities for each game and compare that probability with the money line to determine if the bet is profitable or not. Example: Fangraphs gives the Dodgers a 75.7% chance to win tonight's game vs The Phillies. The money line for the game has the Dodgers at -225, which works out to a ~70% win rate to break even on this bet. Since the Dodgers should win 75% of the time (fangraphs), then this bet should be profitable. Just wondering if anyone else uses a strategy like this? Thoughts? Opinions Thanks
